I pre-ordered this DVD and instantly exploded out of like 5 half-guards at once.

I haven't even watched it yet and already I'm 500% more awesome!

Just picked this up yesterday! I know it's been a long time coming for this DVD but it's been well worth the wait. Even though I haven't seen the entire DVD yet, I have to say that this DVD is one of the best instructionals I've ever purchased.

Instruction:

Jeff's instruction is very clear and concise. It's nice to get this kind of high level instruction from a native English spearker, it's quite refreshing.
The techniques Jeff domonstrates are great and I know I can add them to my game. I've always enjoyed the half guard so this will definitly add a whole new dimension. Sweeping from the deep half seems really easy once you get there and Jeff certainly shows a lot of great ways to catch your opponent off guard to get into the deep half.
Jeff also gets into a lot of other things like back attacks and darces. I'll stick with the half guard stuff for now since that's where I need the most work.

Just browsing the 2 dics, I found a lot of bonus footage. There's at least 10 full fights, bonus techniques and other great stuff. All in all, this DVD set was well worth the money.. Oh, and the DVD case is really cool too!

Best instructional ever. Being a smaller guy like Jeff, I was often getting smashed in half guard. Not anymore! Now i'm sliding right into DHG under these mofo's and going straight to the sweep. I never expected an instructional to change my game as much as this one has.

First off i get a lot of DVD sets, and a lot of my game was learned through watching DVD Instructionals. this one is colorful and actually fun too watch; most DVD sets that have good material are great, but can be difficult to sit through without falling asleep. Glover keeps it interesting by throwing in some humor.

For me personally this is definitely one of the most beneficial DVD's to my game. I have been trying to learn a lot of the things covered in this DVD through analyzing Glover's game for a long time, but I was always missing details and as a result I could never play the position the way he does. I've also been taught the position before, but for some reason it never stuck with me right until I watched this DVD set. After watching this DVD once through I have a tremendous new found confidence in making deep half guard a serious part of my game.

Now none of these volumes are particularly large, but IMO that made it better. Many times when you buy a DVD set you pay $130 and up for so much excruciating material you can barely get through it all in order to pick a few favorites to repeat and drill. the worst part about those types of sets are that a lot of the time most of the techniques in there are essentially a bunch of variations on the same few base techniques. Glover doesn't do this at all in this set; i can honestly say I'm probably going to drill every technique on the set. He just gives you a handful of gold from his game and leaves the variations up to you; personally I love this.

Also the Stability Ball feature was just awesome. obviously you could spend hours giving people useful boring workouts to do on a stability ball, but here once again Jeff just grabs a handful of gold and throws it at you. Great drills for building particular skills and he even shows how they would apply in a match, and more advanced versions for when they become to easy. The best part is that every drill he shows is a BLAST to practice.

This set was great. Ive been going through other instructionals and can hardly stay awake through them. Good quality video, no more monotone instruction, pretty funny at times, a good mixture of basic technique and advanced moves. I also like that they included a bunch of his fights, I was thinking it was only going to me three or four of them but they added a bunch of really exciting ones. Im looking forward to his Glover's travels release...

Agree with everyone here. Very good dvd on the topic and great stuff on the brabo and back attacks too. I also love the comedy and the fights. I even learned a lot from watching the sparring footage. Good job!

I haven't bought an instructional in a while because I found myself getting so bored listening to a Brazilian with bad English talk (or a bad voice over dude). No matter how cool the techniques were I always found myself losing patience. That's not a problem with Jeff. He's very clear and funny. The pacing is great. Not to slow to bore me to death and not to fast that I can't follow along. Hope we get to see another Glover dvd in the future!

Just finished watching both DVDs - extremely impressed. I'm not as small framed as Jeff but I am small in stature. At 5'6" I tend to find myself smushed underneath bigger/larger opponents and I have to use a lot of technique but also combine it with a lot of pure strength. This works but I get gassed easily and my endurance at 35 yrs old isn't what it once was.
Jeff's game is awesome and fun to watch, his instruction, sparring footage and stability ball drills are all excellent. His focus on Darces for submission was also something unique to me as I never really practiced these techniques. Overall very clear and concise instruction, and very fun to watch. Great work Jeff, keep em coming!

great dvd, opened up a new style of fighting for me. It is something you have to persist with, and I had to swallow some pride with getting armbarred a fair few times before being able to work the dhg sweeps glover teaches. I have realised now it is a very instinctive position and Jeff lays down the fundamentals which really are a starting point to go from. Also his darce stuff was a real added bonus 'very effective' and is what really makes the dvd worth paying the 70 huck for.

As someone who spends a lot of time teaching others I'm pretty particular about what I study and how I then turn around and teach it to my class. This DVD is an awesome collection to ANY players style. I don't care if your big or small you can use 90% + of this DVD in your game. Jeff's comedy is great in this as well.... at first I thought he was serious which makes it even funnier.... Fastest, easiest way to Deep Half Guard --- Priceless !! ROFLMAO....

Awesome Video.

1. No too much information

2. Video production is fantastic. Not only did they shoot the moves being demonstrated from the sides, but also from the top when needed. I wish everyone would shoot their instructionals this way.

3. Jeff did a great job of explaining the moves.

4. The moves being demonstrated at different speeds was helpful also, slow, medium speed and real time.

The deep half guard is great, but I got way more mileage from the section on the Darce Chokes and the Guard Passes. Based on price alone this video is a steal compared to other instructionals on the market. Your game can't go wrong buy it!

Jeff Glover is one of my favorite bjj players, so like everyone else here, I was completely stoked when I received this DVD set. But over time, I began to see many weaknesses in this DVD set, and was forced to look to youtube videos for the answers to my questions about the deep half guard. My main gripe is that this DVD set is not comprehensive on the deep half guard. Maybe it wasn't meant to be, but if you have "6 volumes" on one position, as a consumer, I would have expected it to be. What the set is, is a great overview on the position. The material presented and the explanations are great. But at the end of the day, 2 of the 6 volumes (darces and back attacks) have nothing to do with the deep half gaurd. There isn't much on in terms of deep half guard prevention and counters, and only 2 of the passes are actually passes/counters from the deep half gaurd. The other passes are passes from half gaurd. The production is excellent, the price is on point, and the extras are good. But I just feel that there was a lot more information on the deep half guard that could have been presented.

The DVD explains the entry set ups well but it does not provide a full comprehension of the position. It leaves out many critical details like 1)dealing with counters 2) defending againts armbars / reverse triangles from your opponent, and 3) what is the answer when the opponent is not resting on their knee like many of the sweeps are shown in the DVD. I use deep half guard quite extensively but I had to learn through trial and error what works and what doesn't.

Excellent instruction on the Deep Half Guard and the section on Darce chokes is an added bonus. Jeff Glover does a great job explaining the correct movements and positioning of the Deep Half which will accelerate your understanding.
