I've seen some other Silat videos but none were easier to learn from than this one. I literally learned the first six Juru's in about an hour. It's just that easy to learn from. Simonet shows multiple reptitions, views and angles, and speeds. Also shown are the applications of each juru and extensive foundational explanations of footwork and tactics. Best Silat series on the market in my opinion!

I was very disappointed from this two dvd set.
there is no completions of the techniques and they are not effective sadly.
only in the end of the second disk sifu joe shows some good techniques but only for ten minutes.
if you want to learn the forms than this is the set for you.
if you want to learn silat serak than this is not the set for you.

Simonet's Serak looks exactly like Tongkat-Serak. Which is to say a very hard-style Silat. It lacks the fluidity and grace of Serak, but very well represents Victor Dethouars line of Silat. For a better representation of Serak, look at Stevan Plinck's videos on Bukti Negara, or Simonet's latest videos as he integrates his Serak into his own system and makes it more (in my opinion) nuanced. Furthermore, his later videos show a much better understanding of Serak as well.
