This title is designed for Beginner / Intermediate students or instructors who have the responsibility of teaching Beginners and might find this approach helpful. This is the first in what will eventually be a series devoted to Kihon Waza, the basic core of techniques one needs to know for moving up the kyu ranks. An attempt is made to connect these “basics” with the [principles of aiki outlined in the Principles of Aiki series. This first Volume covers Footwork, Basic Striking, Proper Intention, Ikkyo, Nikkyo, Kotegaeshi, Shihonage, Kaitenage, and the How and Why of Irimi (Entering). Early reviews on this title have been quite favorable.
There are of course different approaches to aikido, however if your school is associated with the ASU (aikido schools of Ueshiba) this is a wonderful video. I am learning details of techniques that I'm just not getting in my class. I would imagine it would be useful for other approaches to aikido as well, but I don't know. As for me, it is well worth the cost and is helping me immensely.
