While certainly a useful addition to any knife fighting library, this book focuses very much on Bob Kasper´s personal preferences. This isn´t such a bad thing, with Bob having been one of the foremost experts on the subject, but it does somewhat limit the scope of the book. He makes it quite clear that he prefers fixed blade knives (not only, but mostly, of his design), and while he doesn´t entirely discard folders as defensive knives, if you´re a folder man, you won´t find much about them here. The techniques, however, are another thing altogether. Excepting the draw, they are certainly applicable to folders and fixed blades alike. While there are many excellent fixed blade knives of a size which allow daily carrying in urban environments - and Bob´s designs are surely among the best - it all very much depends on climate, dress code and dedication how comfortable you are carrying the weapon - and we all know that an uncomfortably carrying weapon is going to stay at home sooner rather than later. With that in mind the book can certainly be recommended.
