I have been training in aikido for five years, and I have been longing to see aikido applied in sparring context (against unpredicted punches, kicks and grabs). What I found were competitors in a grab game for each others' wrists. It would be charitable to say I saw three decent throws in all 26 fights. Shodokan's toshu randori is more "real world" than this.
