this was the first in the la sub x tournament series. the rules were different to insure action. positions were only given a point and submission attempts were given 3 points. this made for a very exciting tournament. the glover vs. moura fight and the viera vs. uematsu fight were unreal. this is a bargain for that price!

Sub-X has awesome camera footage right from the mat. All matches shown in entirety (your choice of with or without commentary), highlight replay, then post-match interviews of both athletes.

As with any good DVD production, you expect extra bonus features:

The scene behind the scene for LA Sub-X at Santa Monica Civic Center….. Bruce Buffer opens the event, a fast-forward of the venue assembly, quick shots of the crowd, self-intros of competitors, weigh-ins at Jiu Jitsu Pro Gear, Jeff Glover talking about his daily routine (cereal in the morning), fighters warming up at R-1 Gym and backstage, Saulo on fight strategy, and finally, the PSL rules. These are all short segments, but really good footage.

unlike some of the submission events I've seen, this one was actually entertaining and educational for grappling. highly recommended.

The quality of the event and production is good. The matches aren't that great however. I would say getting the panams or worlds gives you better bang for your buck
