$70 bucks for a single DVD? I hesitate to say any DVD is worth that. Overall I'm very happy with the DVD though. There's a lot of good, solid techniques for fighting from the Guard, Crushing the Rubber Guard and submissions from inside the guard. I don't think I've seen a more comprehensive video available on what to do when you're in the guard. It's more than just trying to pass. You're shown how to apply pressure, frustrate your opponent, maintain control, keep him from hitting you, knock him around a bit, or submit him. GREAT!

A solid DVD, there's nothing erath shattering here, but it's all good stuff, delivered by a guy who's been there and done it.

Overall I was very disappointed with this DVD. My main issue is that Barnett's instruction just isn't very good - he's not at all detail oriented and doesn't explain movements in a way that's useful to learn from. You just get lots of "make him really uncomfortable... smash him with all your weight... etc." So his explanations are crude. Not very technical at all - it's more like he's coaching on grappling attitude. One of the main reasons I bought the DVD was b/c i wanted to see his approach to "smashing the rubber guard". I was really disappointed - as he shows what to do against someone who's playing a really bad rubber guard game. The guy being his dummy really wasnt playing rubber guard right, and i think a lot of Barnet's stuff would become irrelevant if the guy was playing a tight proper rubber guard. And again, this section was also really way too small to address dealing with the rubber guard. He shows just a couple situations (literally), when there's so much that can be done to you if you are stuck in rubber guard.

His leg lock stuff is ok, but again really lacking in depth or detail.

If you're looking for a DVD on passing the guard, i'd much rather look to Saulo Ribero and Marcelo Garcia's DVDs... and if you want really thorough and detailed leg lock instruction then you definitely want Gokor's DVD set.

It would be nice if a good teacher put together a thorough set on dealing with the rubber guard, since this DVD really does a very poor job of analyzing rubber guard situations.
