When I first ordered this DVD is was out of curiosity for for the remaining true traditional martial arts.
When I first hit play I was completed stunned at how strangely uncoordinated everything looked. From the unorthodox clenched fists, to the strange goose stepping and the weird x-gaurd positions made for blocking. On yop of this the master is a small, rodundt looking fellow who does not look athletic in the least. Seriously, I was totally shocked how bad it looked I thought it was a joke.
However, not one to judge a book by its cover I spent some time watching the DVD to try and understand what was happening and why. I imaged the samurai of old in full armor walking around a dangerous battle field with unsure footing. It started to make sense and techniques and fast, yet uncoordinated looking attacks, didn't look as crazy as I first thought. There is lots of study material here and I'm beginning to glean lots of small details and gems. Its not for everyone and most people would dismiss it at first glance but I'm glad I persevered as there is something to learn from the old ways if you look long enough.
