I'm hoping someone reads this review. I bought this dvd. It is by far the worst self defense dvd I've ever purchased. This guy is an idiot. He does a lot of talking and doesn't teach anything. Instead, he just talks about how you don't have to know anything to defend yourself against an attacker (or two). It's like a dance dvd where the instructor tells you, "You don't have to learn any steps, just move around". He even suggests that you fight back with a comb (yes that's what I said. Fight off an attacker with a hair grooming comb). He basically tells you to wear a jean jacket in order to keep your comb available in your front pocket. He talks about "mind-set" a lot; but there is no method to this foolishness. Anyway, you don't need to waste your money on this dvd. If you do, don't say I didn't warn you.

THANK YOU TIMOTHY FOR YOUR REVEIW! i saw an ad for this guys video a few years back. the ad had such hype i really wanted to buy it. because the ad pretty much bad mouthed all martial arts and fight techniques and said this guy wouuld show you a better way to fight. for the price i decided not to buy it because it was probably going to be mosty or all BS like most selfdefense videos. now i know i made the right choice thanks tim! ...you dont mind if i call you tim do you?

For the guys above me and everyone else please understand one thing Larry Wick's system isn't about "Kicking Ass" it's about taking the attacker & making him the victim & escaping.I have not seen this video but his new DVD's "Split Second Survival" is incredible.Look on youtube & videogoogle you'll see him demonstrating his system.This is not a martial art though,his system requires you to be relaxed so you cannot telegraph to your opponent what your going to do and a soft feather touch which takes control of the limb that's attacking you.I've tried his knife & gun defenses personally & I'm telling you he's the real deal! There was a story about him in Blackbelt Magazine(FEB 09)and the writer Dr.Mark Cheng was put to the test.After being shown the system he wasn't still a believer until he tried it with his friends & student's & it worked everytime! his exact quote "The repeatability of his demo continues to floor me".Wick is a high ranked Tang Soo Do instructor so he doesn't hate martial artists' but he know's he couldn't pull of Dojo techniques in the street.He talk's about facing people that most likely will be bigger & stronger than you(not the same size as you! that you see in blackbelt magazine) so kicks & punches,joint locks won't be effective.His dvd "live fire" shows what will happen when you try those "gun defenses" that "self defense schools" show you,he actually shows the danger of putting your hand on a live gun! something other instructors don't have the onions to do.If you want flash,power & hollywood style krav maga,keysi fighting arts,thai boxing,etc. this isn't for you but I'm telling you... step outside your comfort zone & open your mind to the SSS concept.
