The Essence of Wan Laisheng's Wushu 9 DVD Set is demonstrated by direct disciple of Wan Laisheng,the chief coach of South Shaolin Wushu Gymnasium - the sixth Dan of Chinese Wushu.
Vol 1: Eight-step Hook Paired Practice:
Eight-step Hook Paired Practice is one of the paired practices in the Liuhe (Six Conformities) school. Its most notable feature is that the body movement and the footwork are very agile and quick. It can advance and retreat freely,each form of the fists moving upward and beating downward,the movements are quite forceful and vigorous. Practicing this kungfu,you can win the opponent stronger than you by circumvent,and subdue the weaker easily. Your kungfu will be improved a lot if you have such a good chance to learn this set.
Vol 2: Chi Bi Paired Practice:
It is impossible to trace who edited and popularized this set of boxing. But the Liuhe(Six Conformities) school keeps this paired practice method in which one person attacks while another defends,one person advances while another backs. Master Wan Laisheng often practised this boxing with his disciples. He required it to be exact,steady and firm;the body movements should be practised well. Take the feint movements as the real movements,you can perform the movements well by frequent practice.
Vol 3: Catching and Holding Paired Practice:
The catching and holding paired practice is a kind of combat technique. It is a technique in which you use all kinds of methods to force one of the opponents coordination to move beyond the gernerla moving scope of the bodys confirmities,and then it would make him lose the ability to resist because of great pain. Its techniques mainly contain chopping,pointing,pulling,catching,blocking,shutting,cutting,buckling and so on.
Vol 4: Phoenix Golden Wing Single Broadsword: Phoenix Golden Wing Single Broadsword is also called Six Conformities Single Broadsword. Broadsword play is the most common one in Chinese ancient weapons,and it gains high honor from martial artist in all the ages. The Six Conformities Single Broadsword has the feature of being swift,forceful,strong and vigorous. Its movements contain hacking, chopping, stabbing, cutting, twining and wrapping the head and so on.
Vol 5 & 6 Free Sparring in Nature School (2 dvds): Free Sparring in Nature School has the same feature of the sets of boxing in it. The movements change without any hints;the stillness and motion turn into each other without beginning and ending;the movements are performed between firmness and emptiness;all the movementws are performed naturally.Its rule of practice in a circle is that the body moves like a bending bow and hand like an arrow. The eyes are like the falling stars and the leg like the drill.Its requirements for the hands are : moving inside as strongas the steel hook,and stabbing as sharp as the broadsword,as strong as the hard stone when you meet the opponents and as gluey as the gluey water,hide as quickly as the wind and dodge as agilely as the sword coming out of the scabbard,the opponent will has nowhere to escape but hands up to surrender.
Vol 7 & 8: Quintessence of Wan Laisheng"s Free Combat: The Combat Skill of Wan Laisheng's Natural School Kung fu was passed down straightly by the great master of Natural School Du Xinwu, who was from Hunan. Used the sayings about the combat skill of Natural School that Wan Laisheng has said: there are theses words to describe the essences of the skill: capture and arrest alive, escape and dodge tactfully; shrink and extend or rise and drop skillfully; the body soft and agile. When you get the co-coordination of the movements and the spirit, you receive the real kung fu. The disciples should remember: the move and the calm have not the source, the change of the skill have not the end, sometimes it's faux sometimes it's real, all the things will be born naturally.
Vol 9: Genitals-locked skills in Nature School.
In the Wushu combat,the most cruel and venomous form is the "Attacking the crotch" in which the attacking aim is the opponent"s crotch. It would be very tragic if the crotch was hurt badly. Lin Qing song,a disciple taught by Wan Laisheng directly,works out a wonderful kind of kungfu "Genitals-locked Skill" by more than forty years of practice. It helps to relieve the most worry of the wushu practitioners. Lin Qin Song is also a very famous calligraphist. He is good at culture learning and wushu and these two latents bring out the best to each other. This inspires the wushu practitioners that our Chinese traditional wushu is really broad and profound.
