1. Kenjutsu Class:

This DVD focuses on the relationship between Aikido and Kenjutsu (sword techniques). In this class, Sensei shows selected sword postures, strikes, and kumitachi (paired training) exercises. Look for similarities between the sword movements practiced in this class and the empty handed techniques demonstrated in the other Aikido classes on this DVD.

2. Intermediate Aikido:

Matsuoka Sensei uses this class to focus on hand movements and techniques from tsuki (punch) attacks. Note how the hand movements and footwork relate to the movements shown in the kenjutsu class.

3. Advanced Aikido:

In this class, Sensei demonstrates how the sword can be used as a tool for understanding and learning proper distance and timing in a randori (multiple attacker) situation.

1. Historical Video:

This brief black and white video shows Matsuoka Sensei teaching class at Tenshin Dojo in Osaka Japan. This is the dojo where Matsuoka Sensei began his training in 1976. He continued to train and teach there until he moved to the US in 1983. Sensei was 25 years old when this video was filmed.

2. Aikido and the Sword:

In this interview, Matsuoka Sensei discusses the replationship between Aikido and the sword. He also discusses how sword training can enhance a practitioner's Aikido at both a basic and advanced level.
