I dunno if I got a bum set or what, but the production quality really sucked on mine. Bright blinding light on one of the dvds, horrible audio on another. I'd go with Pete Chemas 10 dvd set! Its way better!

The information is very good, the production of the video is not the best, but taking in consideration the rarity of the art, I think this could be overlooked, perhaps in the future if the DVD set comes out, these small problems will be solved. In one word,reccomended; this is a good buy, the teacher really knows his stuff.

These tapes do have some issues with sound quality, but then again, they were filmed in 1994. I hear DVDs will be available in 2008 & I would definitely recommend picking them up. These videos cover all the material in the white-black belt curriculum for the United States Shuai-chiao Association in fairly good detail as well as the poem of Shuai-chaio (which contains the 30 fundamental techniques that make the foundation of Shuai-chiao technique and strategy). This is the only place I've seen this poem reviewed.

Chinese characters are wisely designed by Chinese ancestors to contain profound and complete meanings in all ways. Chinese characters are hieroglyphic. Chinese characters used in each Shuai Chiao posture contain multiple meanings and interpretations. Dr Weng narrates his demonstration not only in English but also with authentic shuai chiao terminology in Chinese characters. This bilingual teaching is very valuable to learners who can read Chinese. Lots of meanings and instructions are already implied in the Chinese terms and need no further explanation. I personally recommend shuai chiao practitioners to learn authentic Chinese (traditional Chinese not the Simplified form used in mainland China). This will be the best way to grasp the gist and soul of Shuai Chiao completely.
