If you have any doubts about the ability of your DVD player to properly convert the signal, please referance your manufacturer's instruction manual. Because a computer is neither PAL nor NTSC, you should have no problem playing an NTSC or PAL DVD on your computer.

Therefore some DVDs manufactured in Japan for example, will not play in DVD players sold in the United states and vice versa. Japan and England fall into what is known as Region 2 and the United States falls into Region 1. If the DVD is marked as "Region 0" or "Region Free", it will play on any player.
