In this video, Master Takemi Takayasu shows you the 4 fundemental kata of Uechi-Ryu Karate Do from Okinawa: Sanchin, Kanishiwa, Kanshu and Seichin as well as Kyu-Yakusoku-Kumite, defense and attack agains an aggressor with a knife.
For the first time in the history of Uechi-Ryu, the "Sanchin Gitae" is shown with the first Sanchin Kata and with applications of three other kata.
Sanchin: Sanchin is one of the three kata brought back from China by Master Kambum Uechi, founder of the Uech-Ryu Karate Do. It is the first one of the 9 Uechi-Ryu Kata and is the foundation of the whole school.
Sanchin-Gitae: Sanchin Gitae is whta separates Uechi-Ryu from other Karate schools, because of its violence.
Kata Seichin: this kata was created by Master Saburo Uehara. Defense and attack are perfomed with the same arm, but both arems may be uses as well as one knee for defense against two attackers. During the execution of this kata, you will discover two scenes of Hirate Mawashi-uke left followed by Furihiji-uchi right that will be perfoemed agains a right Suto-Uchi...
Kyu-Yakusoku-Kumite: This Kata was invented by Master Seisho Yonaha for the Kyu practitioners. This Kata must be performed with vigor and swiftness.
