Extreme Wing Chun 2 DVD by Joseph Simonet

Wing Chun gung fu is an extremely direct, incredibly functional close-range fighting style that formed the foundation of Bruce Lees famed jeet kune do. In this DVD, wing chun expert Joseph Simonet gives you a crash course in his hybrid style of wing chun and teaches you the secrets of using its essential elements to make the art work in a real fight. Simonet provides detailed instruction in all the critical skills of combative wing chun, including body position and stance, footwork, rapid-fire straight punching, combat trapping and the proper methods of executing wing chuns most effective blocks. To provide an effective training structure, he teaches these movements as repetitive drills first on the mook jong (wooden dummy), then with a training partner and finally in full-speed, full-contact sparring scenarios. This complete video course presents more than a dozen drills that include all of wing chuns most effective techniques. It also teaches you the secrets of linking and combing these drills both on the mook jong and with a partner to create your own wooden dummy forms as well as your own explosive expression of wing chun fighting technique.

This is another great DVD set from Simonet. He takes traditional Wing Chun out of the dark ages and applies it in an easy to follow, aggressive, and powerful fighting system. Highly recommended!

TERRIBLE! I really wanted to like this video. I come from an MMA backround but I think wingchun can be useful in self defense situations because wing chun often starts with the 2 fighters standing squared up with hands down. like most fights between guys start. Everything Simonet shows is out of range! He's to far away to actually strike his training partner! If you don't train in the real range with real contact your B.S.ing yourself. So all he's teaching is how to strike while out of range! Then he shows hows to block and strike if some throws a "hook" at you. What he calls a hook is really a haymaker! Almost no one throws a right(rear hand) hook becuase it's such a short range weapon it's hard to land. and if they do throw the right hook they are not going to throw it from so far out of range! Ok so he's showing how to defend and counter a haymaker not a right hook, right? ok sure, but basic western boxing has far better simpler and safer answers to the haymaker! I could go on and on about how awful this is but I don't got all day. He tells you when working on the mook jong(the wooden dummy) you dont actually punch it becuase its wood and if you hit it a lot it's going to damage your knuckles. ok so you don't learn to throw and land punches with real impact/power while training on a very important piece of wingchun training equipment? This is a joke! He shows another "technique" where the attacker punches and you block and push the attacker's shoulder, turning him to an angle, then you strike him. ok... why not just strike immediatly after you block his stike? I understand having an outside angle of attack on your oppenant is great but in this case forgot about moving the guys shoulder, I'd rather be striking him already! Forget this dvd! Stick to your western boxing! Although if your interested in winghchun like I am, Michael Wong has a great wing chun dvd! also available here on budovideos.com!
