Montaigue puts the teeth and claws back onto the Chinese internal arts! While the subject of pressure-point fighting is controversial, the principles of mindset and body-movement presented here are applicable to any system. The in-depth explaination of the points, and how they work (theoretically), was also a plus. From an academic standpoint, this is a highly interesting book.
Montaigue provides great insight into the pressure point applications found in the original Tai Chi Chaun, before it got watered down. He also covers the correct mental state and fa jing energy needed to apply the strikes effectively. The information will be of value to all martial artists.
One annoyance is that sometimes photos mentioned in the text on one page are found a few pages later. So, you have to keep flipping back and forth. The publishers could have avoided this by making the book 9 x 11 inches instead of 6 x 9 inches. Despite that, the book will be a great addition to your library. A definite buy!
