Easy to follow and understand, Shihan Funakoshi takes you step by step through the required kata for advancing half way through modern Shotokan kyu belt system. Upon completion, and of course official testing, one would now be considered the "highest of the low belts". The only thing that dates this DVD as a transfer from VHS is the use of slow-motion. Which in the video tape era made it easy to watch the breakdown of moves; it isn’t necessary in today’s DVD frame by frame technology. This being the only drawback in my opinion, this is a great refresher library for one who knows Shotokan and a fantastic tool for the novice who will benefit immensely from having an instructor only a “press play” away.
