Region Codes are software locks installed on the DVD disc to prevent people from taking advantage of the differential release schedules of movies. Therefore some DVDs manufactured in Japan for example, will not play in DVD players sold in the United states and vice versa. Japan and England fall into what is known as Region 2 and the United States falls into Region 1. If the DVD is marked as "Region 0" or "Region Free", it will play on any player. If you would like to view Region 2 DVDs and you don't live in Japan or England, it is possible to overcome the region encoding by purchasing a Region Free DVD player, which we sell here, or by finding a code to disable the region encoding on your player.
