Sigh... I buy alot of DB videos. I consider Top Dog's original 6, and Lonely Dog's videos to be great stuff. I also enjoyed the Krabi Krabong video, as its so rare to see. HOWEVER, the Kali Tudo series is bad. I purchased it because I'm always interested in DB offerings, but this one (as many other videos) was a big disappointment.
The "Running Dog Posture" is an "option" to escape the guard, but not the best option based on efficiency/goals/opportunity. The heel hook shown isn't detailed very well for people who don't know how to do it.
The Kali/Silat striking was described on their site as "kali silat striking like you've never seen it before"...yes...like you've never seen it before, if you've never done sinawalli. The striking was pure Kali 101, and was literally the first empty handed Kali application I learned, when I started the art almost 20 years ago.
Furthermore the Kali strikes were VERY large and left big openings in your defenses, and left you very vulnerable if the person is able to trap your first backfist (or slash angle). Using it in the ground and pound scenario seemed contingent upon fighting someone with little full contact experience.
I'd recommend that rather than this offering, you look towards Stephan Kesting or Eric Paulson's fantastic video offerings on grappling. And for empty-hand Kali, you look towards Steve Grody's more street oriented solutions or Ron Balicki's more MMA flavored panantukan.
I think the biggest critcism would be that this is theoretical. It hasn't been tested yet in the cage. Bits of it have been tested against OTHER Kali fighters at DB gatherings (many who are quite good), but not against a Muay Thai/BJJ/Wrestler (who have those arts as their CORE focus), sans weapons (at least not enough to judge its efficacy). This DVD was intended as a MMA solution, not a street defense one, so it needs to be held to a higher standard since you're already assuming a highly trained opponent with some full contact experience. So this is a pretty big hole that it hasn't been field-tested yet in that arena.
Its easy to be a critic, and I feel really bad about giving this a low review, but I feel like someone of Marc's calibur has alot more to offer than what he chooses to release to the public. The best and most touching part (at least for us old guys) was the last 10 minutes where he talks about what it means to love an art. But 7 good minutes don't make up for the preceeding 1 hour and 45.

Pathetic DVD. the quality is awful. and the Material is useless. Mark asks some students on the DVD why do you think this material isn't used in the cage. LOL best answer is it don't work. This was a big wast of my money. I loved other DB DVD's, this is a true piece of trash. Here is a guy teaching you fighting techniques and he admittedly has never been in a street fight. HELLO.
I wish I could get a refund. These guys ran there course with the DVDs yrs ago, time to step aside now, your material is over.
