- Great Review by Joseph Burtner
Price Value Quality
Five stars for thinking outside the box, three stars for scientific thinking. The author tries to explain why so many movements in kata look nothing like kumite. His explaination is built largely on supposition of what life in 1850's Okinawa was like, and the idea that karate teachers a half-century later wanted to propogate the strategies used for a highly specific scenario. Still, his thinking is outside of the box, and gives one some insight into bunkai one might not have otherwise considered. Buy it for its unique ideas, not for the research.
