Author profile:
Born 1942, Saku City, Nagano Prefecture, Japan. Graduated from Gakushuin University. Began aikido while in university, where he became captain of the university aikido club. Entered Aikikai Hombu Dojo in 1967, receiving instruction from aikido founder Morihei Ueshiba. Subsequently contributed to the spread of aikido both in and outside of Japan. In 1993, founded Aikido Saku Dojo in his hometown of Saku. In Japan, instructs at Aikikai Hombu Dojo, and 16 various regional dojos and universities. Overseas, instructs every year in 16 countries in Europe, North America, and Asia. Holds the aikido rank of 8th dan.
