On today's episode of This Week in BJJ, I discuss some new releases, making money in BJJ, before bringing on special guest Dr. Ethan Kreiswirth to talk about injuries in BJJ and how to stay injury free.
New release #1: The Berimbolo & Beyond 4 DVD set by the Miyao Brothers
New release #2: ADCC 2013 7 DVD Set
Here's part 1:
And here's part 2:
Oh, and what is Budo Mania anyway?
Coming off their 4th World title victory at the BJJ world championships, the Mendes brothers stop by again with two of their world champion students, Rock Slomba and Mason Monsevais. The guys talk about their championship run as well as a break down of most of the adult black belt finals.
Fans of my show This Week in BJJ are no stranger to AJ Agazarm.
He's a good friend, a frequent guest on the show and a very talented BJJ competitor.
Recently, ADCC USA set up a superfight between AJ and wolrd champion Gilbert "Durinho" Burns.
Durinho is a super tough and technical fighter who was coincidentally just signed to fight for the UFC.
This was a tough match up for first year black belt Agazarm but it was still a great fight.
Both fighters have strong takedowns.
Durinho did a great job of establishing mount and back control.
There are few fighters as RESILIENT and with as much HEART as AJ.
This was one match I would have loved to have seen go on for another 10 minutes!
Watch the whole 10 minute ADCC Superfight right here. Skip to the 3:15 mark if you want to skip the stand up exchanges:
AJ is also scheduled to compete at the 2014 IBJJF BJJ World Championships on May 31st. Tune in to watch live at IBJJFTV.com!
The International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation is always looking for ways to clarify, update, and improve the rulest for IBJJF competitions.
Just last week, the IBJJF made some updates to their rules and to elimiate any confusion, we wanted to make a video with the help of an IBJJF referee (Gabriel Costa).
I've known Jeff for quite a few years now and we've done a lot of work together. We did 5 episodes of his show "Glovers Travels", we made a few instructionals, and we even took him to the OC Fair for an episode of Rolled Up where we challenged each other with all kinds of random contests.
Everyone's favorite grappler, Jeff Glover AKA The Pipelayer joins Budo Jake in the studio this week. Jeff has been keeping himself quite busy these days. Not only is he instruction full time at Victory MMA, he's now the co commentator of Metamoris! The interview was so good and so long we had to break it up into 3 parts. Expect Part 3 next week but in the meantime, enjoy parts 1 and 2! (Link to part 2 at the end of part 1)
